Traditional Turkoman rugs – like the Tekke, Yomut and Salor carpets – are probably some of the most recognisable carpets in the world. Also referred to as Bokhara rugs, they were woven by different tribes of Turkmen people, and are a pride and joy, and a true national treasure of modern day Turkmenistan.
The famous quartered gul in the field of Tekke and Salor rugs have varying designs from one Turkoman tribe to another.
Our Turkoman carpets are, for the most part, painstaking hand-made recreations of antique rugs in 100% natural silk. The “Lao Tekke” carpets, on the other hand, combine traditional Tekke gul in the field with Lao weaving patterns in the border of the carpet, creating a unique version of the timeless Tekke design.
